Pizza scissors are a fantastic invention that has a relatively simple modification of the design of a regular pair of scissors. By merely slightly changing the angle and making the blades come out at an angle, rather than straight from the handle, you've got yourself a handy utensil that'll make dishing out that family-sized pizza even easier!

Of course, not all pizza scissors are made equal, and with an industry as large as this, you can be sure that there are a plethora of brand names to choose from. Here are five great options that you can purchase from online retailers.

Best Pizza Scissors Reviews

Triangle Germany Pizza Scissors

Triangle Germany is a popular European brand that creates all sorts of kitchen appliances and utensils. You can almost always consider their products to be on the higher end of the spectrum when it comes to quality. When it comes to comparing this pair of scissors to others, you'll find that Triangle Germany can be considered a staple thanks to the different features that they possess. However, no pair of scissors is infallible!

Review

These pizza scissors have just the sort of features we are looking for when looking for the best pizza scissors money can buy. Starting with the basics, the blades are 5 ½ inches long and made with stainless steel, making them incredibly durable against wear and tear. This also means that they keep their edge very well without needing to be sharpened too often.

The scissors feature a cranked handle design that allows you to easily slip the blade beneath the pizza base and get a clean cut without having to hold the scissors at odd angles for your wrist. The blades themselves are also detachable for easy cleaning and maintenance, and they're even dishwasher safe! Don't limit yourself to cutting pizza, though, as these are perfect for anything vaguely pizza-shaped, such as pies, quiches, or tarts.

There were some aspects of the Triangle Germany Pizza Scissors that we found a bit lacking or even missing entirely. One such aspect is one that you often find among cheaper varieties, and that is a simple measuring and spatula tool.

Many different pizza scissors, including some on this list, come with an attachment that fits onto the bottom blade that slips under the pizza. This attachment lets you measure the slice size and allows you to lift the portion for placing it on a dish more easily.

There is also a common problem that many seem to have with the handle's quality over time. While the blades may be durable and sturdy, the handle is a lot more cheaply made, doesn't last as long, and can become brittle very quickly from overwashing.

Ultimately, these are a good pair of pizza scissors for those looking for good quality and ergonomic use. They are on the pricier end of the spectrum at around $32 per pair, but the overall quality is professional and well worth it if you have the money laying around for a pair of pizza scissors.

A short video showcase of the scissors can be found below.

PROS

  • Ergonomic "cranked" handle design
  • Durable, stainless-steel blades
  • Detachable blades for easier cleaning
  • Dishwasher safe

CONS

  • No measuring or spatula tool/attachment
  • Handle becomes brittle quickly if overwashed

Paderno World Cuisine Offset Pizza Scissors

Paderno is another well-known brand name that is based in Europe. Known for creating high-end cooking accessories, utensils, tools, and other cookware, they provide professionally crafted items for professional companies, hotels, restaurants, and other high-end establishments. This means you can almost be guaranteed that these are great, high-quality pizza scissors!

Review

Designed similarly to the Triangle Germany Pizza Scissors, the Paderno option features the crooked blade and hand design which provides a more ergonomic way of slicing your pizza. The blades are also similarly made of stainless steel for enhanced durability, and it has the ability to keep its sharp edge for an extended period of time.

The blades are also similarly detachable from one another to make cleaning them a lot easier, and they are dishwasher safe, too! It checks almost all the boxes for a great pair of pizza scissors, but there does appear to be a few caveats that they do not list on their website.

One of the most recurring problems users seem to have is the difficulty using these Paderno scissors. The blades themselves are quite long, but the actual cutting surface is only around four inches long, which is tiny for pizza. The scissors are also not exceptionally strong.

They aren't suitable for anything thicker than thin-crust pizzas and have difficulty cutting through thicker toppings, leading you to press down on them, which could cause the scissors to break. However, if you prefer smaller, less busy pizzas, then these scissors will serve you well. It also lacks the measuring and spatula attachment that we see on other pizza scissors.

PROS

  • Blades are made with durable stainless steel
  • Ergonomic "offset" handle
  • Detachable blades make it easier to clean
  • Can be cleaned in the dishwasher

CONS

  • Smaller cutting surface on blades
  • Blades aren't strong enough for thicker pizzas

Fiskars Non-scratch Kitchen Shears

The Fiskars Non-Scratch Kitchen Shears are, once again, quite similar in design to the other pizza scissors on this list. This is because the general design principle remains the same - make cutting pizza and other similarly shaped foods more comfortable and more efficient. However, Fiskars has included an elementary feature that sets it apart from the rest of the scissors on this list.

Review

Starting with the basics that we should all expect, the Fiskars Non-Scratch Kitchen Shears feature the staple crooked design. Thus, the handles and blades are offset from one another rather than following a straight design. Unlike the Paderno design, though, the Fiskars' offset design is slightly angled more to one side, allowing you even more room and height above your food when cutting.

This ties into its next feature, which sets it apart from the previous items. Attached to the base of the bottom stainless-steel blade, you'll find a nylon base that is incredibly heat-resistant. The purpose of this nylon base is to protect your pans and plates from scratches while you cut, allowing you to use the kitchen shears directly on those surfaces without worrying about causing damage.

This nylon base doesn't negatively impact the scissors in any significant way and is a simple addition that can go a long way in the right circumstances. The blades are also detachable from one another and can just be thrown in the dishwasher after preparing your meal for a good wash.

One negative to the offset design that the Fiskars particularly suffers from is that they went the extra mile and made the handle just that much farther away from the blades than the other designs on this list. Unfortunately, this makes them more challenging to manipulate. Cutting straight lines is no problem, but as soon as you want to get a bit more creative, you might find it difficult trying to get around.

Again, one of the sorely missed features that you see on cheaper brands and designs is the spatula and measuring attachment, which admittedly wouldn't work very well with this design because of the principle of using it on foods directly in your pan or baking tray and such. However, it would certainly work as an optional attachment for pizzas, quiches, and other similar foods.

Below is a short video showing off the kitchen shears in action.

PROS

  • Dishwasher friendly
  • Ergonomic design that elevates the original concept
  • Heat-resistant nylon base that is perfect for cutting in the pan or tray
  • Durable design that can come undone for easy washing

CONS

  • Difficult to maneuver when not cutting in straight lines
  • No measuring or spatula tool applicable

Home & Style Pizza Scissors

At the other end of the spectrum, Home & Style is a more common and inexpensive brand compared to the other brands we've featured on this list so far. Does that mean that perhaps their pizza scissors are objectively worse in comparison to the others? Let's see how it holds up.

Review

Right from the start, you can tell that these scissors are far more conventional than the pizza scissors we've seen on this list so far. It features the staple BPA-free, stainless-steel blades and plastic handles, except with a more conventional design than the crooked, offset design we've seen before.

Unfortunately, this means that it will be a bit more awkward to cut pizzas with, as you'll have to cut close to an edge or lift the pizza if you want to cut right through. However, it is dishwasher safe, which is a staple feature that we love to see. It even comes with a detachable spatula for cutting the perfect slice and then serving it much more easily.

However, it seems like this model doesn't meet the standards of the previous items. Despite being made with stainless steel like the others, it remains quite flimsy and the blades are quite dull. Also, the handles are very cheaply made. While an excellent addition to include on this list, the spatula attachment is detachable, and when coupled with an already flimsy make, this causes it to come off or break off quite easily.

However, should you land yourself a sharpened pair or manage to sharpen a pair yourself, you'll find that it may not be quite as good as the pricier options on this list, but it still does the job well enough and remains better than the standard circular pizza cutter.

PROS

  • Can be used in the dishwasher
  • BPA-free stainless steel blades
  • Cheaper option compared to other options on the list
  • Comes with a detachable spatula

CONS

  • Spatula becomes prone to falling off, flimsy
  • Not ergonomic, a bit dull, and awkward to use

JustForYou by The Jungle Store Blue Pizza Scissors

Coming to you from The Jungle Store is the JustForYou Pizza Scissors, which bring together some of our favorite features from the different pizza scissors on this list. Saying that, one would assume that this might be the perfect pair to look for, but there are a few minor caveats that could deter you.

Review

Starting once again with the basics, it follows the more conventional Home & Style model. While the offset design, or lack thereof, might not be as bad as the one mentioned before, it is still a relatively small of a difference and will likely cause a problem when not working near an edge.

However, the blades are made from sturdy stainless steel and keep a sharp edge for quite some time. The spatula is also quite sturdy and has a nylon base covering the bottom blade, meaning you won't leave scratches on your pans or trays.

There are a few minor problems to be aware of, however. While the spatula is an excellent addition for helping you measure out the perfect slice and allowing you to dish it up easily, it isn't detachable in any way. This means it might often get in the way depending on how you store the scissors, as the spatula is quite thick. The more conventional scissor design also makes it more awkward to slice when on a flat surface and not near an edge.

Below is a video that shows off these scissors, alongside other pizza gadgets.

PROS

  • Heat-resistant nylon base to prevent scratches
  • Spatula for measuring and serving pizza slices
  • Safe to use in your dishwasher
  • Overall sturdy design

CONS

  • Difficult to store thanks to size and shape
  • Can be more awkward to use than other scissors with an offset handle

FINAL VERDICT

To box it up and deliver this review, let's quickly go over the best and the worst. The higher-end brands - Triangle, Paderno, and Fiskars - all have staple features that almost define what pizza scissors are. They are on the pricier end, but their quality is guaranteed, with Fiskars being the most recommended of the three.

If you are looking for something on the cheaper end of the spectrum, the JustForYou Pizza Scissors are the way to go, as it still retains many of our favorite features at a lower cost without compromising too much on the quality.
